About the PC Pro Excellence Awards
The PC Pro Excellence Awards are the most prestigious in the IT industry for good reason: they’re based entirely on our readers’ experience. These awards aren’t judged by the number of “votes” (all that rewards is the company with the largest client base) but on the quality of service and products our readers have received.
In each category, we ask our readers to rate the reliability of the products they have bought, customer support (if applicable), and how satisfied they are – in particular, if they would buy from that company again.
We combine all this information to produce a numeric rating, and the company with the highest rating wins. If any companies are hot on their heels, they win a Highly Commended award.
A List Product of the Year
This award is simply for the outstanding product from the year – software, hardware or service. As the name suggests, it must have made it onto the PC Pro A List at some point during the past year. The shortlist will be decided by PC Pro’s editorial team but the final vote will be down to our readers.
How to nominate your company’s products
You can nominate your company in three of the award categories.
To nominate your company, please state, in no more than 100 words, why your product deserves to win this award and email to awards@pcpro.co.uk by 31 July 2011.
In particular, we’re looking for signs of the impact your product has had on its market. Products released in 2010 are eligible for these awards, but must have been on sale during 2011.
The three categories are:
Software of the Year
Quite simply, for the piece of new software that’s made the biggest difference to our readers’ lives – at home or at work. New versions of existing software are eligible, as are services such as online storage.
Education Product of the Year
The hardware, software or service that’s made the biggest difference to educational establishments in the UK. Once we narrow down the shortlist, we’ll open up the voting to all PC Pro readers who work in education.
Business Product of the Year
You guessed it – the hardware, software or service that’s made the biggest difference to UK businesses in the past year. We will also ask for nominations from PC Pro’s team of Real World Computing columnists, a mix of IT consultants, company owners and developers.
Good luck making the shortlist for all of these Awards. Note that voting will take place close to the Awards, and the decision will be made by PC Pro readers.
